Default Some problems

I have a 2001 A6 2.7t Automatic with Tip Tronic. The car have 118K miles and I would appreciate very much any king of sugestions regarding the following problems:

The tiptronic is not working. When I switch from automatic to tip tronic, nothing happens.

When I'm slowing down, like on a stop light, i can feel some vibrations on the front of the car.

The car sometimes smells like burning oil. Especially when I use the 93 Octanes gas. For some reason, when I use the regular gas, it doesn't smell nearly as much as the premium.
Wich gas should I use?

Thank guys, for the help.

Regards

Default 118K Miles....that is about the right time for a auto tranny to fail (no matter who makes it)

I think you are going to be out a lot of cash....

Default Tiptronic problem Is probably just the switch in the shifter

is yhe shifter blind around the shifter broken or sticky? that is where the magnetic switch is....
Oil smell probably torsen diff seal or cam adjuster seals, expensive on that car,
And front brake rotors are probably warped....
These are a guess, I am no way a professional....

Default na, the 700R4 is pretty good... just change tow in overdrive or slam it into drive while reversing.

Tranny should be able to last for awhile. Changing the fluid helps also.

Default My cousin bought a new silverado (last gen). At 9 miles they replaced the engine. At 35k they

replaced the tranny.

Default That is surprising, I thought american cars were making progress.

But we can't cast stones, remember how many of the new S4 4.2s blew engines within 100 miles?

GM cars run bad longer than most cars run.

Default Nah, it's gotta be the same problem 3 times, or more than x number of days in the shop. I did lemon

my S-10 after it spent 47 days in the shop during the first 6 months of ownership. That was a painful process.

The ironic thing is that he's not a car guy and he's always bought late model Ford trucks at the auction. He's never had a single problem until he bought new.
