Default well, for those who wanted updated on the blown 1.8T...

Some of you said you wanted to hear my progress on the 97 1.8T I bought that had a blown engine. So far I've done little more than remove the bumper and noise insulation under the nose as someone stole a good number of my tools.

I did however find some interesting things... What you see above is what was sitting on top of the noise insulation panel. I was able to piece the 3 smaller pieces together to get a readable part number. The dealer parts department told me it was part of the cylinder head and "You might want to bring that car in...".

What the other piece is I don't know yet. There's a part number on it but there's no letter at the end so I can't look it up. It is snapped off on both halves and is cast iron. The piece is about 4" long. All suggestions are welcome.

I'm pretty amazed with the damage so far. It seems the cylinder head just exploded!

Default Wow, that must have been some bang

The shaft piece is part of the intermediate shaft. p/n checks with the "family album".
Not much to salvage from that head or block.
