Default Anyone in the DC metro area have Cavalier Telephone (POTS) and/or DSL svc?

Would appreciate any reviews/recommendations. Some friends of ours are contemplating switching their POTS svc from Verizon over to Cavalier. They don't feel comfortable switching entirely over to Verizon FIOS fiber svc...for fear of loosing their phone service over long periods of power loss. My friend tells me he just wants a simple phone line that works with DSL. I just came across Cavalier on DSLreports.com and wanted to know if anyone here uses them.

Thanks!

PS: I personally have FIOS and it rocks

http://www.cavtel.com/

Default I had Cavalier Telephone for a couple years and recently went to VoIP

They were fine. The reliability/service was just like Verizon's, but that's because they just resold Verizon's line. They colo at the CO to transport the call.

My beef with them was their unwillingness to budge on price despite competition (such as from VoIP providers). I got more features for less money and ported my number (originally my number came from Verizon) and went to VoicePulse.

Tell your friends that Cavalier is fine. They'll save a few bucks over Verizon and reliability and quality will be perfect. E911, DA, and all other services are seamless.

Default I have had it in Baltimore...

And my parents have it right now. They have both regular phone service and DSL. They have not had any problems. Cavalier is getting pretty big. Verizon charges too much.

Default Thank you Both. Recommending Cavalier it is then.

Just wondering if their claim of upto 10MBps is really true but their pricing seems reasonable. VZ just charges too much.

Default Do me a favor...would appreciate it...

Where my friends live, VZ refuses to offer DSL svc even though the line qualifies. Friends want to take advantage of their $15/month DSL pricing (even though its low speed, its enough for them). They live in an area where FIOS Fiber svc is offered so VZ is only selling this svc. Sucks. Anyway, does this mean Cavalier would also not offer DSL in their area?

Thanks!
