I think it's real, the video looks too smooth to be just a bunch of frames edited together, look at the way the lights go on and off, it takes a second and there is some overlap, you couldn't make it that smooth with editing.

That's easily done with intelligent lighting. Back in my DJing years the lighting manufacture Martin had all sorts of intelligent lighting products to replicate this kind of thing. It's a simple computer lighting program that is connected into what would look like a big shoebox surge protector.
The picture is an idea of how the program would look. If you see the screen on the right you'll notice its somewhat the same as the stage setup.<ul><li><a href="http://www.martin.com/">http://www.martin.com/</a</li></ul>
