Done the door blades and the xenons on the beetle
First, the door blades. It was a lot simpler then I ever imagined. one screw and the whole blade slides right out. Well, most of the old ones fell out in pieces. They have a metal support inside the rubber and mine has turned into rust the shape of a support. As soon as I pulled on them the whole thing cam apart into pieces. So I ended up replacing all the doors, even the rear ones that I thought were ok.
Clair sent some replacement clips and even though I didn't break any of the old ones some of the ones on the doors were slightly different, gray instead of white and didn't hold as tightly as the white ones. I guess at some point in time, before I bought the car, someone removed the blades (why??), broke some of the clips and replaced them with aftermarket ones. I put the new ones in their place and now the blades fit snuggly to the door without any play.
I got in touch with the guys from the xenon store, the place I got the HID kit for the beetle and come to find out they sent me the right kit but in the wrong box. Also, they didn't include any of the screws, fortunately I had some that fit so I managed to put it together without them. Unlike Matt's install and the one on newbeetle.org, instead of attaching the ballasts to the engine block I attached them to the fenders. I figure that's less vibration and maybe a little less heat to make them last longer. Maybe it'll make a difference, maybe not. Here's a few pics:
