looking for a 4wd winter truck... something in the $2000 range... know friends or neighbors selling?
looking for a 4x4 as a winter driver, something that wont leave me dead on the side of the road...
been looking at late eighties Chevy K5 Blazers or Ford Broncos.
also considering Toyota pickups... looking for extended cabs
ford chevy pickups good too, been staying away from explorers, chevy s10 blazers and cherokees...
basically something 4wheel drive that I could put 5000 miles on this winter and it wont die, and wont cost me a million in parts...
but only looking to spend around 2 grand or so...
figured I'd ask you guys in the M.A. area. I'm in CT, but am expanding my search area... north of virginia is about it...
any help appreciated!

When I was looking for a beater, trucks in the price range were hard to find
I did searches all the way back to like early 90s Rangers and they were still running around $3K - $4K. Trucks hold their resale values well. Add in 4WD, extended cabs, and manuals, and the prices jack up. You can get somewhat of a break if you buy a 4 banger instead of a V6.
I'll ask my neighbor, he knows people selling cars. Also, if you find something in the NoVA area and need someone to go look at it, I'll do that. After buying two beater cars and my buddy's A4...I'm good at checking out used cars.

thanks!
I appreciate the help...
just using all avenues possible to find stuff...
I know that trucks keep their values, almost too well, they just arent worth what you pay for sometimes... but every now and again you find that deal, you just have to be patient...

Yup, I assume you're raping eBay, autotrader, cars.com, local papers, etc.?
It took me about two months to find my beater car for a price that I wanted, that was mechanically sound, and with the options I wanted.

exactly...
and I'm holding out... there are the plain jane trucks out there for too much,
then theres the ones with the nice rims tires, options and condition that I want, they're just the elusive ones...
luckily, I'm not in a desperate need for it, it's basically a luxury... and won't really need it until I sell the audi anyway...

yep, that's alex
we staged that shot when we were working on my sedan...
selling the avant because work gave me a company car (front wheel peel slushbox american cr@p)
and I want to buy a house and possibly get engaged.. the best way to come up with more money is by selling the avant... she's given me no problems whatsoever... but she will only keep dropping in value, and I really have no need to drive it... I can do all of my driving in the work car...
wish I could keep it as a fun car, but it will only keep costing me money, as I cannot stop modding!!!

ah, good priorities
You look kinda young (at least based on that picture), so to get your shiza in order from now is smart...nice going.
Abuse the crap out of the company car! You get a perpetual rental.

I'm
26, so somewhat young in the grand scheme of things... for the AW boards, I'm becoming a middle ager (with all the 16-18 year olds that keep coming aboard)
