Default Coming from a dealership point-of-view, that won't change anything.

Overall, theres good and bad opinions of Matt F. but every service advisor will have pretty much the same reputation. If he's too popular/unpopular he's doing something wrong... either screwing the company/Audi by warrantying too much making him popular with customers, or being such a dick that he's losing most customers he comes in contact with. As long as a service advice is somewhere on the popularity bell curve then he's doing fine.

Service advisors give out good and bad news, they don't always decide the news. Climbing up their a$$'s and complaining usually won't do any good unless you think you have proof to present to the service manager or Audi regional rep. And they will usually side with the advisor. That's just the way this business works.... I see it every day and I'm fairly new to this industry.

Default The skill of being an advisor.........

includes being able to relay the good news and bad news in such a way that the customer understands. It sometimes requires a bit of sugar coating(something I'm not very good at). That way, the customer knows what's going on, what's wrong with his/her car, why it happened, how much & how long it'll take to fix. If an advisor screws up, miscommunication happens, and that's what upsets the customer. Advisors don't have to be dicks at all, that's kind of a screwed up interpretation really - not to bash you .....but you're right about the managers & reps taking the advisors side, even when they're clueless.

Default Remember when: "The good news is Mat's finished with your car, but the bad news is...

one of our minimum wage guys ran it thru our car wash with the window down."

THAT one took a very skillful service advisor! :P

Default Exactly! Josh actually still calls me on occasion from Flow audi......

And Jeff runs a service station of his own in the Rockville area as far as I know. Good advisors, both of them.
