We just purchased a 1976 Fox. Running and looks brand new. What is the best gas to burn in this car. We usally buy older VW's and this our first Audi. We could not pass it up once driving it around town.

But sice it was built in the 70's during the gas crisis, I would imagine it was designed to run on the cheapest gas available: 87 octane.

Best thing to do is try a couple of different grades at a time and see what "runs" best...

Using premium fuel in cars not designed for it can often result in no extra performance at an additional cost...

Thanks Steve, I will give that a try and see how it goes. I put in about a half tank of 89 when I picked it up today. Fairly excited about the car for around town driving. Appreciate your response.

I ran good old Regular in my 78 Fox. It was plenty happy.
