90S Instrument Panel Problems
I am having some problems with my 94 90S instrument panel. First my temp gage is not really functioning, the needle doesn't move at all except once in a while. And now my fuel gage is acting up. If I fill the gas tank the gage will read about ¾ or less. Anyone else have this problem, or does anyone know how to correct it?

Temp problems...
Most likely your problem is with the multi-function switch (sensor) that the temp gauge takes readings from. I know on my old 5 cylinder Audis, the sensor would go out around 80K or so. Easy install on the 5 cylinders, I imagine it's not too tough on the 2.8. It's just a sensor the screws into the block, takes about 20 min to replace.

Well I have a similar problem. My temp guage is eratic. It will come up and down during driving. I know it's not the thermostat as the heating works properly so the coolant is hot. I believe it's the temperature sensor which requires replacing - seems like a common Audi problem.
My gas guage also acts strange. It will read correctly between full and half full. But when the tank is less than half full the guage will show empty. I haven't really tried to diagnose this one too much yet. I am expecting to receive my Bently CD by the weekend so may take a stab at finding the fault. I am guessing it's the gauge sender unit. I may get a second hand one from a scrap yard to see if it rectifies the problem.
Anyone know what the voltages should be for full, half and empty?

Have the exact same problem.
I have the same problem, my temp gauge and Fuel gauge work only spiratically, and when they do show something, it is always lower than it should be. I have not tackled the problem yet, but can tell you it is not the thermostat, as I had that replaced, but it did not fix the gauge. I posted this question some time ago (probably 10th of March area) if you can check the Archives. I got some interesting suggestions, that pointed to the PCB for the gauges. Hope this helps.
