Default Alternator update!

I hate A4s. With a friggin' passion. We finally gave in and ordered a Bentley, and found out that it's not anything simple, noooo....we have to pull the bumper and remove the radiator/support/fan/shroud/headlight assembly just to get the alternator bolts out! Oh well. From the diagrams, everything seems to be modular, so it's really only two pieces being removed, it's just going to be tedious. I hate A4s.

Default I hate A4s too then. The new A6s need the bumper and radiators removed for the water pump, etc.

Think I may get either an A8 or 540i next time. I'll need to check the room under the hood first.

Default He ended up paying a guy to change it. Neither of us had the spare time the job demanded.

Normally I'd say stick with Audi, but I don't like the A8 that well. It's too big, and not very attractive; it looks kind of like Audi's engineers had a few too many and started wondering what you'd get when you cross an A4, a 100, and a 90. Get the 540, it's all German.

540s give me a woody. Around here a 1997 with 30-40k miles is $30,000.

Default That's about what it is here, too...blue book value, anyway.

It'd probably actually sell for around $25k, especially in DC, where bimmers are a dime a dozen.
