Default Blower Motor problems

On my 85 5ks (which I am vigorously fixing this week), the blower motor went out (or so i thought). It went out gradually and so I bought a working used one to replace it. Still, the blower motor no workey. So I set up a 12v, 3amp powersource to test the old one that I thought was broken, but it worked fine.

I have been following the wire diagrams to the motor (which is called fresh air fan, in the haynes, right?). I think that the thermoswitch is broken. I need to know where it is. I assume it is in a hard-to-reach place, and will require many things to be removed to get at it. Is this the wrong place to look? The a/c conrol unit, is that the thing that makes the noise when I switch the climate control? It's near the passanger right knee.

I hope to get some a/c before it really gets too hot (oops, too late). Good thing at least one window rolls down.

Default Does it roll back up?

I know the price is steep, but you really need the Bentley. Then a couple of beers in front of the TV reading the thing to research your problem. After that, you still won't know what is broken but you will at least know what you are up against.

Default I don't think it comes from a thermoswitch

there is a water temp sensor (and I think that is on the thermostat housing) that the control head uses, but I don't believe the fan itself comes though it. If memory serves it comes from the control box over the glove box. I always used the Hanyes when I worked on mine, and it was pretty good, just watch those silly numbers when you jump from page to page. Now I remember, I think the fresh air fan is the little fan on the temp sensor for the interior temperature, under the little grill up in the center of the dash.

The motors check ok, and you said you have good fuses and relays, then check the power module.

Where? Is it the black box on the pass side in the firewall chamber?

Default On the black box (evaporator) it's odd shaped with electrical connectors...

Three screws keep it in place. That is the variable power supply & resistor pack for the blower motor. I haven't a clue on how to test it or if it's fixable, other than a simple check if there is input and output voltages.
I replaced mine 6 years ago, not cheap.

Got It! It was a blown connection behind the control head. Thanks all!
