Power Window Questions
Well, today I completly dismantled my driver side door (which I am getting very good at) and took apart the regulator motor. On my 85 5000s, I found the source of my problems with the window, as it turns out, the end of the cable had dislodged from the spindle inside the motor. I attempted to insert the cable back inside the spindle, inside the motor, but found that the cable has been bent in several places, so not enought slack can be given to reassemble the cable in the spindle, and thus reassemble the motor and make everything work.
In short, the cable is shot, and I need a new one. The problem it, you cannot buy just a cable, because to insert a new cable, you need to break the two leads that come out of the motor (the have springs on them, they are white, about 4 to 6 inches long, and then have a black sleath that runs to the window guide (long, metal, in the middle of the door) and conceals the cable. At this point, the cable is visible in the guide, and does the actual raising and lowering of the window.conceals the cable).
Here is the question (not a moment too soon!) Is there a place where I can buy a new cable (which I assume is steel) that has all the fixtures so I don't have to break needed parts? Could I possible take the cable (with needed parts) out from the driver rear window?

Try SHOKAN 1-800-ALL-AUDI. I know they rebuild them there. They may have a rebuild kit. I tried to rebuld my driver side window regulator too. Same problem (twisted cable). I never did get it to work right and finally bought a new one. $225
