V6 Throttle Body (95 90q questions)
I'm thinking of doing the throttle body mod this weekend. Has anyone taken it off before? Is it easy and quick to remove? Anything to watch out for or be careful of breaking?

I haven't done it.....
...YET. But there is a write up about it in the Audi World FAQ's. From the write up the throttle body looks as though it's a little "buried". Take a look at the procedure!! I out a link to it at the bottom of the page!!
Hope this helps!!!

Re: V6 Throttle Body (95 90q questions)-Answers?
I've seen an actual dyno test of a 93 Audi 90 V6,
automatic, which had the throttle body bored out the 1-2mm.
It showed a 3 hp gain at 5700 rpm over stock.
Personally, the fee commanded for the mod doesnt seem worth it......
However doing one yourself, for curiosity sake!
Let me know how yours turns out as I may undertake
the project myself!

I wouldn't pay the money for that either. Not worth it, but I have heard of several people dremiling out the extra material. It is rumored to take about an hour or so plus install and removal. I think I just might try it!

The major part of the work involves fabricating
new-larger butterflys. I do not see how it would take only an hour?
If all your doing is removing material, then your gains will be next to nothing.
You would need the increase the size of the bores,
and then incresed the diameter of the round internal throttle valve accordingly.
I have seen mods done to increase the smaller valve size by 2mm.
On a flow bench the increase in airflow is very small.

Re: Thought you had something "New" there.........
I've bored out a throttlebody from an 86 Coupe GT.
The problem with that one is there's not enough material surrounding the bores to increase them
by more than 1mm. What I did, was Heliarc on more aluminum to the exterior, which allowed me to increase the bores by 3-6mm. With a 100mm bore
that equals to a 3-6% increase in airflow. Which was confirmed on a flowbench. The butterfly's were increased, and the shafts were "knife bladed"
with blended screws.
All in all, a ton of work, for very little gain.
Especially if used on an Audi with an autotrans!
I've bought a "spare" V6 throttlebody, and have scoped out the overbore option. 2mm looks to be max with little mod.
