What Audi was this?
It was a 2 door Hatchback. It wasn't a Ur or even a newer "Coup quattro". It looked like a 80 series HB. It did have quattro if that helps. This is the only one I have ever seen and I'm interested in getting one If I can find it. I would like to transplant a 20V turbo engine into it if possible. Any info would be great.<p>Corey<br>

Corey,<p>I seem to be answering all your posts! There was only one 80/90 series hatchback, and that was the '90 and '91 164 HP 20 valve Coupe Quattro's. These are fairly rare. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you saw a modified Coupe Quattro, and that is why it looked different to you. I would like to stuff a 20V turbo under the hood of my 90Q, but I think it will cost a lot of money.<p>Charles<br>

1982 to 1986 Audi Coupe?
If so, they all came with a normally aspirated 5-cylinder engine. The 1982 version had a 2.1 liter developping 100 BHP a and the 1986 came with a 2.3 liter producing 130 BHP with a 110 BHP 2.1 liter in between somewhere.<p>BTW, this car was not a hatchback, it had a steaply racked back but the rear window was fixed with a small truck underneath. It was also my understanding that this model was never offered with the Quattro drivetrain in the US.

Audi has never made a hatchback to my knowledge until the current A3. The cars that looked like a hatch are the Audi Coupes. The series you are curious about goes from 1981 to 1987 here in the US. It was 1987.5 that Audi came out with the 2.3l 130hp engine in a special build. In 1981 - 1983 they had a 2.1l engine, then in 1984 they had a 2.2l 115 hp engine.
