Windows tint ???
I've been thinking for sometime now to do some tinting of my car's windows.
I'm talking about the windows on the back doors and the rear window.
However, i'm not very familiar with how easy/difficult this process would be and also
how succesfully i would be able to accomplish this task. I don't want to spend too much money
and leave the car to a professional car shop.(that's about $250) I'm planning to buy some of that window tint foil that car parts stores sell
around and try to do my best.
My questions are... has anybody done it? Any tricks? How difficult it is, is it possible to this on an Audi at all? Any issues related to "legal/illegal" % of tint?
Are these window tinting foils durable? Any brands that you can recommend?
And the most important question, - if i don't do it well can i remove the foil after that
and simply clean the mess? Is this easy and are there going to be any long term damages on the windows (stains, etc)?
The car that i'll work on is Audi 100 '89.
Thanks for your input.

You need to see if there are any DMV laws about restrictions on tint in your neck of the woods, as you can easily get a ticket, or fail inspection. Where I live 35% is the darkest, and
no silver foils.
Best film has high percentage of titanium, and
looks like aluminum foil from the outside, and almost nonexistant from the inside. This varies with the percentage of titanium in the film. Highest levels cost the most.
Stay away from real dark(black) films, as the tend to heat the car by absorbing heat.
Pretty easy to install. Need to make sure your glass is absolutely clean before you apply the film. Trim to size leaving a little excess to be
trimmed after install. Basically some good planning goes a long way!
)Some places offer a film install kits, which come with a few helpful tools of the trade.
The films are glued to your windows once the water
underneath dries. Removal can be a pain. You cant stain glass.
