Default guys watch out for the hot asphalt when parking your bikes!!!!!

was at the shell motel in lbi and when i got up to check my bike i noticed the kickstand was 1-2" deep into the asphalt. the sun was directly on the pavement so I moved the bike to the shaded asphalt. It was pretty close to having the bike fall. Im going to find a 1/8 thick metal plate areound 4"x4" and put that under my kick stand when its hot out from now on.

Default Yeah, definitely pick up one of the kickstand pads...

...you can get them all over the place, or google "kickstand pad" and you'll get like 23 quintillion hits. You can get them really cheap and they'll fit in your pocket or under the seat. If you forget it for some reason, you can try and find a soda can on the ground (then flatten it) and use that as a pad. Anything, other than cardboard or paper, that will spread the weight out instead of your kickstand focusing all of it on a 1 1/2 inch square.

Default I just use the metal lid from something like a glass pickle jar etc.

Never had a problem and they don't have any sharp edges to worry about if you keep it in your pocket. Plus you probably have a lid in your fridge waiting to become available when you finish whatever's in the jar
