Default Liability question

A friend of mine was thrown from the back of a motorcycle she was riding with a guy a few days ago. She died last night. Charges are pending against the man. Say the girl's family sues the driver, is he liable?

I am worried about my personal insurance limits because I carry a passenger sometimes. If my passenger is every hurt or killed, will my (100/300/100) insurance cover me or should, as a motorcycle driver carrying a passenger, I have a personal $1M umbrella policy?

Default i'd imagine its the same as in a car

where the insurance covers the car and it's occupants. Was the douche doing a wheelie or what?

Agreed. I always hated having a passenger on board. Too risky

Default The insurance covers bodily harm for its own occupants?

What about death? How far will they go? If they are going to take all my assets in a situation like this, I am never taking somebody on a bike again.
