Default 225/45-17 R compound tires

Blast. These are hard to find! I want something that has at least 6/32" of tread. Needs to last a long time and stand up to lots of heat cycles. This pretty much kills the G-forces as an option. I can't find Yoko A032R's in this size anymore. Kumho is revamping the V700 with new compound, same name, none in stock @ TireRack. Proxes RA-1's don't come in this size.

Anyone know of a place with this size for A032R's?

How about street tires that don't chunk @ the track on a heavy car? APR's AVS sports on their S4 seem to be holding up well.

Toyo makes a 235/45-17 in the RA1 - maybe too wide?

Default My options right now.

I am in the same predicament. Here are my options:

Street Tires on Avus wheels:

Choice between

1) Sharon Levy's old So-2 pole positions...probably
have about 5K miles left on them including about 2 track events
and 2 autox events (used price?)

or

2) New SO-2 pole positions from Tirerack at $203/tire (but I don't
want to ruin these by putting them on the track immediately)

or

3) New AVS Sports at $150 per tire??

and

4) Either put Kumho's or g-force R1s on these after I get my 18"
rims from PES. But, as you know, the Kumhos are out of stock,
so what to do. The g-force R1s will not last long enough..I think

And for my new 18" rims:

5) Bridgestone S0-2 (non pole position because the PP tire
does not come in 225/40/18 size...drat!) @ $257/tire. Or, possibly
the AVS Sports? Do they come in 225/40/18?'

Too many decisions to make...not enough money.

Default Sponsors? Anyone, anyone?

Hey, why should all the racers get the sponsors. I think street cars need stickers too! Oh, and we should get paid for it too, or get compensated with free parts!

Blah. I think I'm gonna grab BBS RC's and slap my stock tires on them and auto-x and track the **** out of them. Then I'll figure out what to do while I'm riding around on cords. Maybe I should re-tread the tire. If it's legal for an 18 wheeler...

duck and cover!

Try Bandag for recaps and get the microsiped tread.

Check out the Firestone SZ-50. The SO-2 PP is based off this tire (i.e. UNI-T, similar tread pattern, made in same Japanese plant, etc.). I've run these on the street and track and they're great and cost about 2/3 of the price of the SO-2.

They don't come in 225/45-17. Already checked.

Default Pirelli P-Zero "C" is option

I just got a set of 225/45-17 (front tires for Porsche) from the Racer's Group at Sears Point. Contact is Ryan

707-935-3999

Cost is around $200 (on sale!!). Lots of tread, like the Kumho.

Todd Serota runs these on his 996 (cause the Kumhos don't come in his size) and seems to like them.
