Default 4Ring Racing to run an A4 2.8 in the US Touring Car Series this year (with AoA support)

This press release is courtesy of the fine folks at VWVortex.com (specifically George)

Napa, CA---4Ring Racing is proud to announce that with the cooperation of Audi of America dealers in Northern California and Audi ofAmerica factory representative Jim Oldham, we will be campaigning an A4 2.8 quattro in the National Auto Sports Association's (NASA) new race series, the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC).

Audi of America is the major sponsor of 4Ring Racing, providing the race car along with other miscellaneous benefits. In addition to the race series, 4Ring Racing and Audi of America will be working together to create a better relationship with Audi's customers, both past and present. New programs are planned including driving schools, special appearances at local dealerships, and service training programs. The ultimate goal of this relationship is to build a successful motorsports program whereas 4Ring Racing will place in the foremost position as possible in every race entered, and Audi of America will use the team as a marketing tool to build market share and increase awareness of the brand as not only a high level luxury automotive product, but also of one that contains performance and safety at its core. In addition to increasing brand awareness, this relationship will benefit the service of the car post sale. In addition to Audi of America, 4Ring Racing is also sponsored by Cattlemen's Steak House, Monograms Plus of Santa Rosa, United Rentals of Santa Rosa, Ghillotti Construction, Empire Asphalt, Mark West Quarry, Ace Cleaners, Shades of California, Eurospa and Inn, Riverfront Antiques, Illusions Salon, Synergyn Oils

4Ring Racing is Donny Edwards, Timothy Valencia and Michael Williams. Donny Edwards has been driving professionally for over 15 years and has multiple championships under his belt, including four in the past five years. He was an instructor for Skip Barber and is currently an instructor for NASA in addition to driving for 4Ring Racing. Timothy Valencia is both a driver and an engineer. He has been working in the automotive field for over 7 years and is a certified technician in bodywork. He has previously built two Audi quattro race cars. Michael
Williams functions as the team spokesman, dealing with press relations, sponsor relations, press releases, and other miscellaneous duties.

Default I can email one of the team members...I have his email around here somewhere.

BTW, I think he still works as an Audi Brand Specialist at a dealership.

Default What The Heck .....

is this series? Is this a west coast only series? What tracks? What cars? Who sanctions? Is there a site for details on the series?

I'm always the last to know!

Sounds good -- just would like to know more.

Default Hmmmm

Pictures are nice! Series looks a little more like vapor. Does SCCA Regional sanction this?

Rounding up cars ain't a problem -- dollars are. I know where there's 80% of a brand new killer S4 waiting to roll -- of course, that may be Bell and Galati's new ride above if the price is right!

Keep me posted on the 4Ring endeavor.

I'll keep working on my new Cushman Touring endurance series .

Well, the series is real and is not vapor in the slightest. This series should be very successful in the years to come as NASA is really focusing on getting it covered well with print and televised media. If you want to get into it, this year would be a good year as you cwill have a chance to grow with the series!

As far as cutting steve off dangerously, i disagree. It was the last session of the day in a group 3 HPDE at Laguna Seca. So, passing is allowed at every point on the track. I was in my UrQuattro (240 hp, coilovers, big brakes, big wheels and tires, delrin bushings, etc etc) which was MUCH faster than the A4 that steve was in. I had a run on him coming out of 5 and heading up the hill to 6. Unfortunately, he had enough of a lead coming out of the turn, that by the time the entrance to turn 6 came, we were just about side by side. There was nothing for me to do but go for it, so i lifted as i turned in, rotated the car and got back on the throttle almost immediately, completing the pass. It wasnt the most obvious pass, but it wasnt really dangerous either. I had done the exact same thing, althoug with even less room after the pass was initiated to Ali Arsham, the chairman of NASA in the previous session. I wouldnt hesitate to do it again, especially since i have a little more traffic experience now than at that particular event. I should be getting my competition license in about 2 months, and then i will also be a driver for 4Ring Racing, which will fulfil my dream of being a race car driver.

anyway, hope that helps some of you out. Feel free to email me or just post to the forum and i will respond.<p>Michael Sheridan Williams
