Default first race of season.

Jerry Lamb and I ran his S4 in Stock A (WWSCC's version of AS). We took 1-2, beating Marc Dencker who finished 19th @ nationals last year and Jerry Lee who finished 32nd @ nationals last year as well as a misc M3 who wandered in. Oh, we were quick enough to beat SS (RX7tt, porsche 911s, Vettes) who ran the same time we did.

Just wanted to let people know that the car IS competitive in stock form. :-) Now where are those penske shocks... *grins*

Default What tire size did you go with?

What other changes have you made? What alignment did you run? Thanks

Default 225/45/17 shod Avus

The temp was in the low 40's and the ground was quite wet and the predictions were for rain so we ran the Avus shod S-03's. The 255/40/17 Kumhos would not have warmed up.

The car is still bone stock. Camber is about -.8 deg all the way around 1/32 toe.

We are still running the stock Avus wheels because we are having a tough time finding 17x7.5 wheels to fit. We have looked at Fikse, Monocoque, SSR... and have not found any lightweight wheels that fit. If you have found something please let us know.

What are you running?

Default Ran kumhos 225/43/17 on avus last year...

but I'm thinking of going wider and to hoosiers. I'm having the same trouble you are finding wheels with the correct offset to stay in stock.

Any rec's as to tire width on 7.5" wheels?

Thanks

Default We fit 245/40/17 Hoosiers & 255/40/17 Kumhos

We borrowed a set of used 245/40/17 Hoosiers from another local AXer. They were very tight. We have been using the Avus wheels with 5 mm H&R spacers. They will probably rub a little during use. That is what we will probably go with for important events this year.

The Kumhos did also rub slightly, just enough to mark the links. You may need to shave the inside edge of the tires to get them to fit.

We will also be getting the maximum possible offset (45mm-1/4"), which will probably mean getting spacers milled to the exact size to fit whatever wheels we use. We will let you know when we settle on wheels.

Default Did they rub in the front or the rear? I was thinking...

about going 245 hoosiers in the front and 235 kumhos in the rear. I was thinking it might just balance the car a bit.

Makes it difficult to rotate them using different sizes
