Default Hehehehe...this pretty much says it all...

"Car and Driver" magazine recently featured an up and coming stock car racer. He has a web site and a fan club as well a s a 7500 sq. ft. shop manned by a full time crew. The totterhome that pulls his 40 foot trailer sleeps 6, has its own kitchen and satellite t.v. He has 12 race cars at his disposal and wears custom made driving suits, helmet and Hans device. His name sponsor is Gatorade and his picture has been on 20 million cereal boxes. In addition to Car and Driver, he has been profiled by CBS, ESPN, ABC, NBC, and Fox and has been called " bankable " by the New York Times. The good news, ladies, is that he is single. The bad news is that he is only 10 years old!

His name is Matt Martin. Sound a bit familiar? Yes, his father is Mark Martin who pilots the Viagara car for Jack Roush in NASCAR's Winston Cup series. Mark makes no apologies for the investment in His son. " I will give my son every advantage I can. If he were interested in playing the piano, I'd buy him the finest piano and hire the best piano teachers in the world."

Default I wish I had at least been in karts at that age.

I'm making up for it now though, I guess.

Default my co-driver's kid races karts and is younger than that BUT...

it's always up to HIM when and if he races...Mike (my co-driver) does everything he can not to put pressure on him and to make sure it's something HE wants to do.

One weekend, Mike said "Dane, do you want to go racing this weekend" and he said "no...I want to play golf" so that's what they did.

When I was racing karts, there were some mega stressed-out national champion kids whose dads were always yelling at them. You can BET they had nothing to do with racing as soon as they were out from under their fathers.
