Default Erm...

We'd of kicked your *** out for car to car contact at any of the events I go to. There is no excuse for car to car contact within student groups at a driving school.

Default LOL!! I had a instructor just like that too.

He would only show me the line while driving close to 10/10. He claims that is the only way to show the line right.

Then he wanted to show me what are the things a driver should NOT do, via tallgating someone.

him: Ok, so here is something you shouldn't do!

me (thinking): wow we are very close to that 300zx

him: SEE, HE'S LOOKING AT US IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR! DON'T DO THAT! HE'S GONNA GET IN TROUBL LIKE THAT!

me: really??

He start getting even closer.

him: OK lets see him spin..

....
..

there he goes!

sure enough the 300z spins at a 90 degree right turn. And then he passes the Z while it was still sideways!!

Him: So you got it?? Want to see it again? Lets try it on this vett now!!

Default Be that as it may...

It wasn't a school event. It was open track. At any rate, I've shown the video of the incident to two experienced trackers and both said:

1) The other guy was clearly at fault.
2) I was maintaining a safe following distance.
3) They really couldn't think of a way I could have avoided the contact. The guy came to a virtual stop on track.
4) One, an experienced instructor, said if he were instructing me in the passenger's seat he'd have told me to follow the guy into the corner just as I did. We had both taken a late pass. I did so because I knew I could make the turn safely. The other driver, unfortunately, apparently didn't have the skill to pull it off.

The only suggestion one friend had was that I don't trust anyone in an intermediate group and back way off coming into all corners. I was thinking along the same lines and I transferred to the advanced group after the incident.

Default Warren, if you like...

I can send you a link to the video and you can let me know what I should have done in the situation. Experienced BMW CCA racers have told me I couldn't have done anything. Sh*t happens.

P.S. I'm not going to make the video public on the advice of friends so I'd ask that you don't show it to anyone else.
