Default well if you don't have a way to make more power...

throw everything you can at handling & weight.
i think tires give the best points/lap time drop cost. get the stickiest things you can.
hoosiers = +10 points
if you stick with 225's then you get 3 points back for being two sizes under base.

get some good shocks/springs
double adj. shocks = +7 points
springs = +2 points

not sure how much aero is going to help vs. the points costs

also using alt weight helps since you can pull weight off the car for free. they go by curb weight as their basis for "race" weight. so you can basically remove your own weight worth of weight off the car since you+car can equal curb weight with no points taken.

Default I did a ride-along in an instructor's Miata at VIR. Went off at Turn 1, slewed sideways...

... and got sprayed with a bunch of dirt and grass as I was suddenly the "leading edge" of the car. The fun stopped well before the tire barrier, so it was fine. It was my first 4 wheel off. It's kind of fun if: (1) you realize that you are not going to get hurt, and (2) it's not your car!

Default I have about 8 spins under my belt...all caused by me...

a couple went off track...most kept me on the track surface. I now know how to spin properly...because I practiced it.
