Default MT Washington Hillclimb report

WOW!
That was pretty much my impression as these lunatics averaged upward of 65mph on the
MT Washington Auto Road. It is a 7.5 mile climb on a very narrow, steep road with plenty of tight corners and very, very big (2000 ft straight down) dropoffs. One nutcase managed to get up to 113 mph on a quartermile straightaway, beating his record 110 mph from last year. Winner this year was Frank Sprongl in an Audi S2. He did not best his winning time from last year but was well ahead of the competition. It was an amazing beast of a car and I'll post pictures later. Second place (I think) went to a Frankenaudi. It was a composite 4000/VW Scirocco. There were a lot of impressive vehicles there including a factory Mitsu Lancer EVO. There was a large turnout of Audi owners from the Northeast Quattro Club, mostly older models including some very nice Ur-Q's. There were a few A4s present as well. Audi had a TT there that everyone was allowed to sit in. It is a pretty neat piece of engineering. I'll post some pics when I get them back.
Chris

Default TAP racing finished second

I spoke to Ivor at TAP racing, who raced at the Hill Climb this weekend. They ran a Mitsubushi EVO 5 and finished 2nd in class behind Frank Sprongl in his S2. The Mitsubushi was using the new LV lightweight wheels.

Interesting, since some idiot claimed on the forum that Ivor was in a British prison for fraud!
