Default Hope the Hell they hold up better than.......

....the V700's I ran today at Summit. I have been running Grand Am spec Hoosiers (used) for the past two years and didn't realize how good they were until my supplier stopped selling them (Hoosier got onto him for selling used tires). And of course Tirerack is out of Ecsta700's in my size.

Dilly dallied around for four sessions today trying to get tire temps and pressures right on the M5 and gave up in frustration.

Man those V700's suck. I ran them back in 2000 but didn't remember that they were that bad. More than 2 seconds a lap slower and the car ran loose everywhere. The Quaife race differential just spun the hell out of the rear tires which couldn't grip at all.

Got all excited reading this post about the new Kumho slicks and then looked at the sizes.

Who the heck are they made for?? Vintage racing. Very odd sizes.

Regards,

Jon

Default If you look at the sizes, the clues are there...

Took a peak at them out at the RunOffs. Nice looking rubber. 205-15's are the SSB & SSC tires for Neons and Miatas, etc.. Bet they're making a pitch for a the Pro Miata series, too. The 16's look like an A Sedan sneaker, and the other sizes scream "World Challenge" and "Grand Am". Wonder if Toyo and Hoosier are on the outs...

Don't expect them to be good track day tires. These puppies will probably be good for 45-60 minutes before they're on the wires.
