May I suggest Gaffer's tape than Duct Tape....
I've found that Gaffer's tape (more expensive) has comparitive holding "power" as Duct Tape. Plus, it doesn't leave glue marks if things get a little warm, and it tears beautifully.
The brand to use is Permacel (they make other types of tapes than gaffer's tape). A large roll, equal width to duct tape goes for $16, and you can find it at any professional photo store where they keep photo chemicals, papers, enlargers, etc.
BTW, Gaffer's tape is used by gaffers. And they use it, among other purposes, to be able to handle high heat lamps.

I was kinda kidding about the duct tape...BUT...
I do have both yellow and blue racer's tape in the car box (similar adhesion to gaffer's tape, I've been told). Pretty damn close to imola and nogaro, too. :-)
