Race Tires
What is the largest width race tires that can fit on an A4 1.8tqms? I'll be purchasing new wheels and am considering some 17x8" wheels (BBS?). Any specific wheel recommendations?
I run 225/40/18 (8.5" rim) & 225/50/16 (8" rim) on the street depending on the conditions. There doesn't appear to be a lot of room with the offset I'm currently running. Has anyone managed 235 or 245 width tires without rubbing? Kumho v700s or Toyo RA-1s?

Yes, but they rub
just a bit. Their car is lowered and sits on 600lb/in springs. It wasn't their first choice in tire sizes, but they got them just in time for an event.

Re: Yes, but they rub
OK, so offset here is critical. Maybe I'll sacrifice the extra 10mm and go with the 225s. Seems Kumho is finally out of their current production run. Anyone know what they are calling their new line-up (not the street tires)? I'm still considering Toyo RA-1 and Hoosiers now. Anyone running 235s without rubbing? Sorry this is becoming more suitable for the tire/wheel forum-- I am asking about "race" tires though. :-}

Kumhos, same name V700, different compound. Toyos don't come in quite the right size.
I'm gonna try Yoko A032R in 235/40-17. I plan on making some minor front fenderwell mods though. Nothing visible though. John/TSR, put the Louisville slugger and Sawzall away.
