Default Is this a repost? New motorsports complex in central california?

Called "Riverside" in deference to the late lamented track...

http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/autoindustry/7674/</a

Default Vapor & Paper

Lots of vapor tracks and paper tracks in the works everywhere. 1 paper and 1 vapor in Pennsylvania right now (not counting the ones that have vaporized into oblivion in the past 15 years), 2 vapor tracks in upstate NY, 1 in Cow Hampshire, 1 in Mass., etc. etc. etc. etc.

Glad to see California is part of the game. Best advice: keep your wallet in your pocket.

Default it's not been completely blessed, last I heard

Castle AFB is used by the local SCCA region for several autoxes, but this is not an SCCA endeavor.

Last I'd heard, they local city counsel (or was it county sups?) still had not approved and were contemplating issues surrounding traffic and parking (interestingly, sound issues weren't high on their list of concerns).

Default yeah, it's a big place basically in the middle of nowhere...

EAA have a big fly-in there and I've been to giant scale R/C meets and they flew in the B17 and B24 that do tours around the country...these things looked like mosquitos landing and taxiing there.

It's a great site...hope they do it.

But it's yet another miserably hot central CA site (sigh).

Default That last sentence says it all....

"Yet another disgusting hot central california track location".

I "HATE" changing tires when it is over 100 degrees outside....(another good reason to have a dedicated track car with track tires already mounted and ready to go)

Default Actually, ....

I happened to have dinner the other day with a real estate developer who owns the site. It is currently almond orchrards ($$$$). However, I believe he told me they acquired it to hold until the financing and track approvals came through. From his description, it was pretty much a done deal. He did say that even if it never came to be they would make lots of money on the almonds. His father already requested his own box when the track is complete.

Default oh we get that too...

the winters in central and northern california are pretty harsh...usually don't get snow but just above freezing rain and 30mph winds are pretty darn close...most of california has fairly extreme climate changes through the year except the coastline.

Default brrr.. that pic reminds me of the glen last october.

you know it's cold out when the pilots dont complain that they're too hot under their 3-ply nomex suits.

In winter racing, we wear our helmets all the time (to stay warm ).

I guess you really gotta love the addiction,.. I mean SPORT.

Cant wait to go back to WG in two months.

regards,
Liam
