When the Ferrari club gets 15-20 guys that rent a track...
They are probably a bit more lenient on letting people keep driving. Since they are paying $600-1000 each...there is an expectation by them...to be able to do what they want ..so to speak. I am not condoning this..just know a lot of affluent people and know how they approach this kinda stuff.

send someone packing for 1 full off? that's nuts. If you make that a rule, you'll have drivers
trying to save their car when it was safer to just go straight off.
Once is a happening, twice is a coincidence, and a third time is a trend/pattern.

Bingo. You can't tell people to "drive off when in trouble" and "If you get four off, you're out
of here" at the same time.
If you are after safety, you have to let people drive off.
Your pattern example is good. Each case should be handled individually, as well.
It's not that you went off, but how and why?
Rain? Animal? Drove straight off? Spun off doing eight 360's?

Going off, Avoiding Tortoise's : )). Those who have driven Spring Mountain will laugh at this.
No lie , can't hit the tortoise, some protective species, you came barreling outta turn 7 onto the back straight and, damn what is the moving rock in the middle of the straight?? Great example why that "Lane Toss" excerise was so important at Audi Events !!!

My recollection is that the Ferrari should not have been sent out when he was. (Long)
It was negligent for the organizers to let such fast cars on the track improperly equipped, if that was the case here, or to flag someone off if they are obviously in over their head. Whether a club event or not, certain safety measures seem to have been missing with cars capable of so much speed. When I raced SCCA Showroom stock, the Cal Club region required an approved roll bar, 5 pt belts, and a full suit and Snell approved helmet. Some regions, (SF come to mind) took the extra step to require a full cage, either bolted in or welded. That was way back in the early '70's, and our cars were no where near as potent as what's available now. I went to a BMWCCA Willow Springs event with my 530i in the early 80's, and simply told to wear my helmet, no bar, standard belts, etc. To allow modern machines like the Carrera on track without appropriate safety equipment, is just plain stupid.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

wow...that's a lot of money coming from the Ferrari driver, imo. $90k. all because he left a pit
area from a poorly made pit-out, by the instructions of a worker, "too slowly" directly into/on the path as the racing line. a proper pit-out would have greatly reduced the chances of this crash.
