After a Challenging event on the streets of Denver STaSIS Motorsports <a href="http://www.stasisengineering.com">STaSIS Engineering</a> reclaims the podium in round seven of the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car at Road America. <a href="http://www.chipherr.com">Chip Herr</a> drove his #17 STaSIS / Clear Capital / North Shore Audi / International Auto / MAHLE Powered Audi A4 to second place on the qualifying grid at a 2:27.454 right behind Charles Espenlaub in his Tindol Mazda at a 2:27.015.

Lined up on the outside of the grid in the number two spot Chip Herr eagerly awaited the start of the race to once again use the advantage of quattro to claim first the place spot by turn one. As the lights went out Chip once again got a terrific launch and pulled ahead of Charles by three car lengths and never looked back. Chip drove a clean race and was able to keep a one to two second lead over Charles through out the race. During the final lap of the race Charles made a last ditch effort to pass Chip but was unsuccessful locking up his brakes as he came too hot into a corner. Chip Herr also secured the fastest lap of the race at a 2:28.157 a new track record which is the teams third track record of the year (Mid Ohio - Freddy Baker, Denver - <a href="http://www.adampecorari.com">Adam Pecorari</a>, Road America - Chip Herr)

With a second win under his belt Chip Herr reclaims the fourth place spot once again only 12 points behind defending series Champion Peter Cunningham.

<a href="http://www.jeffcourtneyracing.com">Jeff Courtney</a> in his #99 STaSIS MPI Coin/KaravanTrailer/Kenda MAHLE powered Audi A4 qualified 15th in the field after both of his flying laps during qualifying were disrupted by other cars. SCCA officials then closed the session early due to a large amount of oil on the track in a dangerous spot. This left Jeff unsatisfied with his position and commented," I knew there was at least a half a second if not more, had I been able to get a clean lap".

<img src="http://images18.fotki.com/v339/photos/6/673844/3927867/DSC_9995720_720x0-vi.jpg?1156125886">

Undeterred by his 15th spot in the field Jeff also took advantage of his quattro all wheel drive system and was able to gain several spots by tun one at the start of the race. With the #99 car in the thick of the field Jeff was not short of some very good battles with Brandon Davis in his #20 Acura (coming off a win a Denver) and the #25 car driven by Christian Miller in his MAHLE Powered Volkswagen. Jeff was able to pass Brandon Davis and start working on Christian Miller only to have Brandon recover and make a run at Jeff. After 17 laps of battling Jeff was able to secure the number 11 spot and maintain his lead in the Rookie of the Year points.

<img src="http://images18.fotki.com/v339/photos/6/673844/3927867/DSC_0736720_720x0-vi.jpg?1156133276">

<a href="http://www.fredbakeraudi.com">"Fast" Freddy Baker</a> returned to the seat of his #18 STaSIS / Fred Baker MAHLE powered Audi A4 after missing the Denver Grand Prix due to a prior obligation. Freddy qualified 18th after having similar disruptions Jeff did, then fell victim to the early closure of the qualifying session.

Like his teammates Freddy got a terrific launch and was able to gain two spots to 16Th by the first corner of Road America. With only 17 laps of the 4 mile course Freddy make quick work on the field and worked his way up to a 12Th place finish right behind teammate Jeff Courtney.

Default ... and I was keeeding! I still can't click on the post. I'll assume it was a strong, mid-pack...

... showing.

It's become a great series to watch. The Dodge SRT4 is coming along (although I doubt they'll move on to racing the Dodge Caliber next year), and the Audi/Mazda/Acura battles are fun to watch.

Default Thanks.... and I am also sorry we did not get to spend more time together. I had to leave sat

night to catch my flight at 6:40am.

If you get a chance I would love to see what you have in the photo dept.

Also, I hear the team got a "little" tanked at Siebkens... not many people were feeling "good" Sunday morning:^)

Default i'll put something together as soon as i can.

this is the busiest 10 days we've had this year.

had to handle all the duties myself on Sun, as Mike had a shoot in LA. We had a shoot on Tues, going into one tonight &amp; tomorrow. Another on Sun aft. Then drive to the Glen for Mon, Tues w. Audi club. Then back here for a day w/ the Audi club here, I get to do myself as Mike is flying to the Netherlands for Carrera Cup (running w/ DTM) to work with Ian Baas. I'll join him the day after.

Phew! I'm exhausted. ;-)

But your on my list. We didn't get to make it to Siebkens, as we had to be at the airport. Maybe next year... :P
