Default Steve S. or David White...per the post below...Are you saying it's NOT a good time to...

buy a helmet now, because they are coming out with a SA05 rating or something else. I'm planning to buy a helmet VERY soon of SA00 rating. Should I or should I go ahead and just rent one in March at Buttonwillow and wait off on a helmet. Thanks for your help.

Previous Post

Default My 2 cents worth...

If you buy a SA00 helmet now..you might get a very good price...so that is a good thing...but with having the new SA05 helmets coming out later this year...it may be better to wait if you can. My suggestion is to buy an inexpensive SA00 helmet now...you can get them for as low as $95-120...I don't think SoCal Audi club has rental helmets to us..NorCal does..and maybe those will make it down to SoCal for the Buttonwillow event...but that has probably not been decided yet.

I am still debating what I should do..my SA95 Bell M2 helmet is falling apart inside..and has all kinds of nicks and scratches on it...I may just have to buy a Pyrotect graphic helmet SA00 for $298 + tax and just put this discussion to bed.

Hope this helps.

Default if you are looking for a good deal....

...you may wait a little while and buy a SA00 helmet when the 05's come out...like steve mentioned though, you may find some sweet deals already for the 00's, but once the 05's are out, most places will just want to get rid of the 00's...

keep in mind, the 00's are still going to be good through 2010, so its not like you're going to have to buy another helmet next year if you buy an SA00....

i'm planning on buying an 05 and a hans device later this year as i start club racing...although i may just get an SA00 if i find the right deal...

Default also, it's a good idea not to use a helmet more than 5 years anyway...

so it's likely to be retired before it becomes "obsolete" anyway.

Default Thanks guys...It's says on the form for Buttonwillow they have rental helmets, so

I figure that would include whomever. Maybe I'll just wait for some deals and rent this one last time. Thanks.
