Default What are the loudest, nastiest, dustiest pads for the stock ATE A4 calipers?

These are the pads that will work.

I have pretty much given up on the idea of upgrading to a 993 caliper and started researching the possibility that there is a better pad for the track. After the last track event, I changed my mind about the stock brakes with slotted disks, thinking they might work with a better pad and some ducting and the proper fluid.

I abused the Ctechs in the last event and now they work better than the factory pads on the street.

I don't care about dust or squeel. I'd prefer some noise to be able to get more of a feel for the brakes.

Default Pagid Orange Pads (more)

I originaly bought these pads just for the track as my Mintex Red-Box's sucked in the performance department. These things sprew nasty black gunk all over the rims and they squeak like an old METRO bus. But, I was so impressed by their performance on the track (really felt like a set of $2000 brakes were on the car -- minus the 100ft stopping distance). They never faded, the feel was unbelievable (I have SS lines and use Castrol Fluid... the ATE superblue is no where near as good... trust me, I've used it, bled it, and used it again... it stinks). So, when I got home from the track I just left them on and have no plans of taking them off. I can deal w/ the squeaking (that's what a good custom stereo is for) and cleaning the wheels once or twice a week. So, until I get a set of Alcons (never), these are the pads I will use on the track and on the street... THEY ROCK!!

Default Actually, I like the oranges too

Yes, there is dust but really, the dust is nowhere near as bad and they don't squeak like the Performance Friction 90s I had. Those were horrid.
In fact, I've got a new set of Pagid Oranges on right now because I'm leaving this very minute for Grattan (Quattro Club). No squeaks at all yet (they have been bedded in too). Even with light braking in stop and go traffic they were quiet today.
Go figure.
I'm sure I'll see lots of dust this weekend though.
Running the White A4 1.8T (Cameron's old car) with the B-Types front and H-Types rear.
Should be fun...
Now, I'm off to Grand Rapids, MI !

Default Cost and Rotor Wear?

I just destroyed some Perf. Friction Z Rated on my M5 this weekend and slightly warped the rotors. Also, where do you get that Castrol stuff? Although I just bought Super Blue, I did get a little softer pedal, though no fade.

I should probably go to a dedicated track pad but I am exploring my options. Isn't the Orange a "race" pad.

Default I also use Orange...

Actually, I've gone through a set of orange's in my Alcons. They were great on the track and the street. Squeal wasn't anywhere near what people warned me about. Very tolerable. The one bad thing is long highway drives in the rain. If you don't touch your brakes every now and then, there isn't much there when you first try them. Most brakes will do this, but the oranges are the worst I've felt yet.

I'm currently working on a set of Green's in the Alcon's. A more aggressive race compound, I think I like them better at the track, and they seem to do fine on the street. They squeak a little more than the orange's, but I'd call that nothin' after listening to Sharon's Porterfield R4's from a mile away. No rain experience with these pads yet.
