Default will anyone let you take driving schools in your own car? @ VIR/Summit/Beaver run or mid OH?

I have raced in the distant past but never in a quattro, and my quattro is very heavily modded both engine/drivetrain and somewhat less on susp. but still w/ a lot of mods. I want to learn to take advantage of the potential and not kill myself or others. I also want to drive Mid OH and Summit again, but the other 2 I mentioned are close so they are OK too. I have a lot to learn and altho I think I am a good hi perf. driver (we all do dont we?) I want to learn my limitations as I am pretty sure I wont push the cars limits, in a controlled manner with a good instructor.

Also, is there a racing class that will allow me to run? Car is running 400hp+ 2l 4 banger,rs2 tranny and rear diff w/LSD, coil overs custom engine and tranny mounts, Alcon brakes all around, and about anything else to make it run and stop faster and turn corners. I dont imagine SCCA has anything, but does NASA or some of the others. I may be relegated to track days since I have modded it so much, but its my toy and just having a baad ride was the goal for my toy. Sure would be nice to race a little again (with turns that is).
Thanks for any help and or guidance.

Default Yup.

Check out www.trackschedule.com for a list of driver's schools in the east. MidOhio (www.midohio.com) has a great 2 or 3 day school that you can drive your car in. I attended it last year but I used their RSXs, I have new respect for FWD. I would recommend using their car because it's easier for the instructors to offer feedback in the RSX. You do get a discount for using your own car however.

There is a new NASA racing series called GTS Challenge. You would fit right in because their classes are based on hp to weight, so engine mods don't really matter. You would be running against E36 M3s mostly with the ocassional MB or Audi A4/S4 thrown in. I saw an A4 bored to 2.0L come down from Ohio to Road Atlanta...he didn't do too well though he had the nicest looking race car that weekend. Racing your car isn't so easy...for starters you'd need a full cage, window net, and fire system. You would also need a race license but that's not really hard to get. With your HP, you'd be in GTS4 class.

I would recommend track days first to see if it's in your blood. I've done about 12 track weekends and I'm getting ready to go racing with the BMW club and GTS Challenge. Hope this helps.

http://www.gtschallenge.com</a

Default mid ohio has one of the best schools around but its not cheap!

if you've raced in the past I'm sure you know the basics so you might wanna just do a track day day with a local car club. better yet, sign up for the next audi driving school @ one of hte tracks in your area. I'm sure everyone would enjoy seeing your car @ a local audi club event so why not check out ...

http://www.audiclubna.org/chapters/index.html</a

Default Re: Yup.

Thanks for the GTS Challenge mention. I'm the GTS Challenge Director. The Audi you saw at Road Atlanta was Jeff Mishtawy in is A4 1.8T Quattro. He had engine troubles (possible rod bearings) on Saturday and left first thing Sunday morning.

You can run NASA HPDEs in your own car. checkout www.racenasa.com for NASA info and www.gtschallenge.com ofr GTS info.

Default I'm going to BeaveRun August 2nd...

Open Lapping Day. Not officially a "driving school" but they will hook you up with an instructor (Only $150 for the event). Also, the Ohio Valley Chapter of the ACNA is having a drivers school at BeaveRun this month (July 16-17).
