i think we're into the wrong type of motorsports i think the highest payoff in Solo2 national events is $1.5K, i maybe wrong.

I dunno...they did a drift event at a race I was at at CA Speedway...
and I saw one of the most expensive looking Mitsu's going home on a trailer all smashed up!
Think he managed to find the wall surrounding the drift course heh.

And the 'winnar' likely spent $40K+++ to win that 10K. Sounds like typical racing economics to me.
I'd rather go "Figure 8 School Bus Racing" than "Drifting", any day. Used school buses are cheap, and the tracks don't bitch if you leave the crashed hulk in the paddock after you're done.
Drifting = yesterday's news. Snore.

Dude
Yesterday I FINALLY installed that CD changer I bought from you last year...I was trying to get the mounting box from Audi...had extreme difficulty...decided against using the box..installed it on the floor of the trunk instead...

who gives a rats ***. It's still a fad and of little or no interest to most people who race.
Sometimes the best figure skater doesn't win the Olympics either...has little to do with their abilities and a whole lot to do with the ridiculous subjective nature of the show.
Also, there is a not so plesant side of drifting which is little mentioned in the PC world but it's basically an Asiancentric sport which doesn't welcome non asians. I'm not surprised Millan didn't "win" with a Pontiac:
"While not a Japanese car like the others in the series,"
"this Japanese-based motorsports series will have a full season on American soil. Millen is also the first American driver, and the Pontiac GTO is the first American brand automobile to compete in this new form of extreme motorsport."
"The popularity of Drifting has escalated in the U.S., due in part to the increased interest in JDM, or Japanese Domestic Market automotive products and activities."
"While being a legendary and distinctly "American" brand, Pontiac enters into the import dominated drifting world with the new 2004 GTO V8 performance coupe."
Incidentally: "probably another big talker" how many races and/or drift competitions have you ever done? 50?, 75?, 100? What is your point of reference for comparisons (hint, track days don't count as racing)?

not a fair objective competition
