Default Got hit on 128 Monday morning :(

So some guy not paying attention rear-ended a 3 week old GTI, pushing the GTI into me on 128 Monday morning. I was stopped due to traffic, not sure if the buy behind me was. From the sound/ feeling when he hit me, I'm guessing the first guy, in a 2002 Passat, was probably doing 40-50MPH. Guy's passat was literally coated with mud, looked like he has been off roading with it.

I've picked up and will submit an accident report tomorrow with the Lexington police. I'm also looking for a reputable body shop to get the car into to have it inspected and quote to fix/replace the bumper cover. Suggestions appreciated, I work in Bedford, so local shops may work for me.

My bumper got pretty marked up/ and 'dented', but I don't know if there's hidden damage.

Anyone with experience in such a situation have any input on additional steps I should take? I want to ensure that my damage is fixed regardless of how big/small the cost.

Well that sucks! I always recommend Dicks Auto Body in Somerville.

Default Sorry to hear that Tom... Body shop recommendation down that way-ish would be Dick's...

... in Somerville. I've had friends that were thrilled with the work there.

As for suggestions, definitely go the body shop first, and make sure that the insurance company adjuster goes to the body shop to see it. The adjusters know the shop guys pretty well, and you tend to get a more fair consensus on the starting point for repair cost. Once the shop gets it apart, there's always the suppliments that get sent in, but I think it's a good idea to get the adjuster and the shop hooked up sooner rather than later.

The only thing about Dick's is, there's usually quite a wait becasue of their reputation. Hopefully you have a spare car lying around that you can use for a month or so. 8)

Best of Luck, and I hope it's ready by June 10th so you can bring it KTR.

Default Try Anchor Auto Body in Woburn. I haven't had any work done their myself

but I have been in their shop for other reasons and I can tell you that the quality of the work is top notch.

Default Sorry to hear Tom. Same thing happened to me mid March. More of a pain in the...

a$$ than anything else. A van hit the car behind me at about 35mph and he came forward hitting me. The rear bumper was replaced and the tips of my exhaust had a few scratches (that buffed out) so I pushed for a new exhaust as well. It was a good time to change that anyway. Replaced my APR w/ a Borla. Behind the bumper the spare tire well was just a pinch pushed in but other than that not a whole lot. I would take a look in your spare tire well if you haven't already. Best of luck!

Default Did it happen on the southbound side just after Rt3 merges with 128?

If so, I'm pretty sure I saw the aftermath on my way into work in Lexington that morning.
