i'm glad i had this experience first hand at the recent audi meet.

for those that missed it, scott brought a LADAR gun and very comprehensively elaborated its functionality. he also brought in a videocam with nite vision where it showed the beam pattern at various distances.

another interesting point i wasn't aware of was that the laser gun initially measures distance and then proceeds to calculate the speed which can take 1-2 seconds; with a timely detection, speed can be reduced within that time.
