mass "green" license plate dilema
my mom has decided to scrap her car, because of it's age and condition, and also give up her license, because of her age and condition... 8-)
It's a "green" mass plate and I'm wondering if there's any way I can transfer it onto my sons 90 csq (mandatory Audi content)???
If she sells it to him does she still have to turn in the plate ? Any ideas ?

When I bought my first car I transferred a plate from my father's name to mine..
And it was a simple form that the dealer had from the RMV. I believe there was a fee but there was no need to turn in the plates.
I know it's probably the last thing you want to do, but you may have to go to the RMV to do it on your own... Or check the website, they promote that so much in an effort to keep people from going to 'deal' with them.
For the record, my plates are the newer red and blue ones, but I don't think there's any reason it should be different for a green.
Good luck -- Hang onto the green one as long as possible!

MAss RMV info:
http://www.mass.gov/portal/index.jsp?pageID=mg2searchlanding&sid=massgov2 &searchMassGov=transfer+plate&collectorNam e=EOTCxRMVx
Searched found this option:
http://www.mass.gov/rmv/evr/forms/RMV_Request_for_Plate_Reassignment.pdf
http://www.mass.gov/rmv/regs/reg2.htm
I'm not seeing specifics in my quick search.
Dig a bit.

Found a old post about someone else trying to transfer a green plate...

The only way to get the green plate transferred to the 90 is if it is your mother's name. Otherwise, it doesn't look like you can transfer green plates to another owner.

Re: forgot to note -- You'll likely need your mother's signature to make the transfer.
I transferred over a reserved number plate that my dad had for 40+ years. I have since leased a few cars and all I've had to do is write a letter stating the transfer. It obviously has to be signed but that's all I've had to do. Everytime the lease is up I get it back and then transfer it again when I lease new.
You shouldn't have any trouble doing that as long as the plate it still readable.
