PSA: Fitting in with the theme below...the troopers seem to have new wheels...
In the last few weeks, I've seen (in addition to all the usual unmarked Mustangs, older unmarked Taurus', unmarked Impalas and unmarked Expeditions):
2006 beige Ford Five-Hundred (OEM alloys, absolutely no external markings or indicators of police duty)
2006 dark grey Dodge Charger R/T (OEM alloys, and again, absolutely nothing to give it away)
2006 Dodge Charger (marked car, but no roof lights) -- loked kind of intimidating actually
2005 light blue Ford Taurus SE (unmarked, Grandpa-looking car)
Mostly on 90, 495 and 290, near the Boroughs.
The Ford 500 freaked me out the most, because there is nothing about a beige old-fart car to signal "danger" to you...

Saw the marked Dodge Charger the other day make a U-turn at the Walmart on Rt 9 Framingham
Followed him about him for about a mile before he took off. Gotta agree with you; much more intimidating than the standard Crown Vics.

To continue the theme and my 495 PSA below, yesterday morning on 495...
an unmarked statie (Blue Ford Five Hundred with no tint or any antennas) had someone pulled over in the northbound lanes.

From the Ohio law books:
4549.13. Motor vehicles used by traffic officers.
"Any motor vehicle used by a member of the state highway patrol or by any other peace officer, while said officer is on duty for the exclusive or main purpose of enforcing the motor vehicle or traffic laws of this state, provided the offense is punishable as a misdemeanor, shall be marked in some distinctive manner or color and shall be equipped with, but need not necessarily have in operation at all times, at least one flashing, oscillating, or rotating colored light mounted outside on top of the vehicle. The superintendent of the state highway patrol shall specify what constitutes such a distinctive marking or color for the state highway patrol."
So, if the officer's primary duty includes traffic enforcement, the vehicle must be marked appropriately.
Surprising eh? Wonder if we could get such a law passed here in the people's republic of massachusetts?
