I don't think I agree here. I have both a Q7 and an A4 Avant..
The Avant feels *much* more nimble than the Q7 but maybe that's because my Avant is modded. The Q7 handles better than my Touareg. The Touareg, in turn, drove much better than just about every other SUV we test drive, X5 included (Infiniti's FX's were very nice, though)

Maybe for me it's all SUVs, not just the X5
It could be the physics of stopping and turning 5000 lbs. versus 2500-4000 lbs. I haven't compared the X5 to other SUVs in the snow, so maybe all of them in my view don't take to the snow very well, especially compared to lighter cars shod with snow tires that I have in my mind for comparison.
