Default Question about low number plate lottery through Mass RMV

If I were to win and get a particular plate, could I take that plate with me to another lease once my current A4 lease ends in October 2006, or would I have to give up the plate for a new, generic one?

What if I lease another Audi through VW/Audi Financial? Could I still keep the plate?

Default In CT you cannot take lease plates with you

the leasing company owns the car. They are the registered owner. If your leasing company allows for you to obtain and maintain the registration it may work out for you.

I've had the same plate number now for three different cars..you can transfer the registration to different vehicles in Mass.

Default Even if the car is leased and owned by Audi Financial?

Just curious if you can keep the same plate number if you turn in your *leased* Audi and, say, *lease* another Audi.

The plate is assigned to the owner, so it's Audi's plate.

Default AOA and most others will give you a release form and power of attorney form to take to the RMV..

I've been doing it for 20 years
Just get that power of attorney (they fax it right over) and you can do whatever you like.
If the clerk at the registry gives you grief..ask for the supervisor..they HAVE to do it.

Default Why are these plates special?

I know in CT the 5 digit plates or less are in high demand because the state began offering plates by letter, a-z, then numerically for many years. So since generally the wealthy folks could afford cars back then, they tend to have the low number plates. They can be passed down to generations, so they tend to stay in the family.
