Default So i was just pulled over for having an "altered exhaust to increase noise"

He wrote me a citation for $50. and told me I had to have it removed or my registration will be suspended.

Is this considered a moving violation and
if I put a resonator on and quiet it down will I be alright?

Currently I have 2.5" piping to a magnaflow muffler from the cat back on a 98 B5 1.8t.

Default I have the stock cat in. I dont think its that loud but apparently he thought different.

He turned around and chased me down 2 exits away. I was doing around the speed limit ~70 but it was no faster than anyone around me just louder I guess haha.

Default Wow, I have never had any problems with the cops in this area...

I have no cat on my A4 with a neuspeed exhaust and work right across the street from the Charlton police department and have never had an issue with exhaust. Been pulled over for headlights and license place. None of them ever said anything about the exhaust.

Default He has to do a field dB test and a book to stand on that one

contest it.
I think the law for passenger car is 95db or under.
