Love these Vermont interstates as well.
Very "Autobahn-ish!". Terrific lane discipline.
Cheers

Re: VT 100 around sugarbush - YES
invigorating run with no houses south of Warren to Granville along 100. Continue all the way to stockbridge, but you will need to slow down through a few towns like Rochester.

2nd on "Terrific lane discipline."..
i absolutely love VT drivers in VT. their driving style is so respectful.
i had set the cruise control on 76mph on route 89. there was little traffic, so i figured i'd have no reason to turn it off. it was perfect except for 2 drivers from NH, 1 from MA and 1 from NY that blocked the left lane.
i was even impressed when i was approaching a minivan (VT plates) in the left lane. i was getting ready to shut the cruise off, but about 1/8mi the guy saw me, predicted my speed, and moved over to the rite lane (he moved back on the left lane after i passed him).
double-yellow lines in VT are advisory only. meaning you can pass at your own descretion (unless you're approaching a curve, hill, intersection or rail crossing). the absolute no-pass areas are mandataed by signs. there was a bill "H68" that was against that action, but apparantly it died in 5/06. anywho.. i think it's admirable to put that trust/responsibilities in drivers.

Route 17 aka App gap is what you mean. The only notch is Smugglers, on 108.
Then continue on down to 116, then pick up 125, come back over the mtns, then head back up 100 to Stowe. Trust me, you will NOT be disapointed. =)

The real reason for the need to be able to pass on a double yellow...
farm equipment can not exceed 15-20 mph in most cases.. imagine being stuck behind a slow mover like that for miles till the next passing zone!
