I have a 2002 a4 3.0 quattro and one day it stopped switching from 2nd to third gear. i checked the trouble codes and it noted the long range transmission sensor. i replace this over the period of 1-2 weeks because it’s a pain in the a**. i take it out for a test drive and the transmission shifts good into all the gears and even manual which it didn’t tend to like to do before. i also found out i have manual gear shifters on my steering wheel. but it still doesn’t switch from 2nd to third it just gives out every single time so i start reading about it and thought it would be a good idea to change the shift solenoids. i have done this and now it’s back in limp mode. does anyone know how bad trying to change shift solenoids yourself could go.
