Bummer that we can go more..but I am sure you all understand. Northstar was FRIGGIN crowded on Saturday..sheesh. Snow was decent..my quads and calves are killin me..but that is par for the course at my advanced age.

Default Just made it back from mammoth yesterday..my legs are in pain too..

deep powder + first boarding of the season + being generally out of shape = ouch.

oh, and that was the first and last time i drive there in the winter, with every road closed that would make it 230 miles approx vs 340 in the snow

Default I don't bother going to Flatstar........but then again I don't have kids :-)

Alpine has a nice setup for kids and is cheaper. Great for advanced skiers too.

Default Nstar used to be my fav back when I had my 90's skis. I pretty much hit Sugarbowl recently

maybe cuz it was easy to get in and out from 80. There's a few flat spots, but I remember this place as having the most parks way before other resorts started adapting to snowboarders.

Default 2nd on Sugarbowl, tho got rained out a few weeks back.

Haven't been back to Northstar in 15 years, and I don't plan on going back either. The runs were meh and the crowds were waaay too much.

Default Squaw for steeper (more interesting) Black & Blue slopes. Diamond Peak for the Kids and value

Heavenly (Nevada side) for a wide selection of nicely groomed Blue runs

Default Homewood and Alpine are two of my favorites - plus Costco has dual ticket deals for both

$75 for two tickets at Homewood and $99 for Alpine which includes membership in the Alpine club which offers other discounts. Both have no restrictions.

Costco also has Kirkwood deals - and I really like that mountain as well.

All three have a variety of terrain - Homewood being the mellowest of the three.
