so you got to keep an extra $1K of your own money over the past year
income tax=pay me now, or pay me next year. I'd rather pay later.
the obvious downside of owing money of course is that writing a big check doesn't feel great; I can understand that.
p.s. fwiw we ended up owing ~$300 ourselves this year. to me, owing $0-$500 is a good spot to be in, since that's a small enough amount that it doesn't 'hurt' day to day cash flow.

Sure, or be in a position to keep more of the money you earn NOW and have them owe you more LATER...
That is why I like tax season, cause not only am I getting almost all of my gross coming into my paychecks, but I also get some more back end of year!

Sounds like we need a NorCal Audi tax seminar...... ;) Its all about getting the right information..
and using it. I can see filing in 2009 could be an enjoyable experience for us all.

Gotta work the system.....and the system works back. Kinda relates to a story I heard the other day.
Say I ask you how many pairs of brown shoes you noticed yesterday....it would be pretty hard to come up with an accurate number, if we even could!!
But then say I offer you $100 for each pair you notice tomorrow........does the environment change? No. Do the results change? Yes! Only difference is we now have a different lens to look at the same world through. New information leads to learning and excitement and better results!
And I say all this through personal experience. There are certainly ways to drastically reduce tax liabilities, and that is only the shavings from a much larger/better vehicle!
