I'm doing some "spirited" driving going up the hill to Pacifica on S 280 one morning on the way to Half Moon Bay. There's another car in front of me and we're in the far left lane. He steers momentarily onto the shoulder and kicks up a piece of wood, it looks like a 1x4 maybe a foot long. It's my feeling he does this on purpose. Anyway the wood seems to hit my car and like glides over the windshield and roof. I arrive in HMB and get out of the car, trying to spot some damage somewhere, but I couldn't find any. About a week later my son is looking at the grill and says "Hey, your quattro sign is missing"..I look at it and couldn't figure out why and it dawns on me that the wood hits that little piece of plastic,knocks it off and in doing so spins the 1x4 harmlessly up and away..
