Default Best Indy shop near New Haven, CT out of these 4? Experiences wanted...

Hey all,

Just moved to New Haven, CT - looking for an indy shop to do timing belt and 60k service. Did a forum search and saw a few recommended:

Branca's - Milford, CT
Nino Auto service - Bethany, CT
Momentum Tuning - Wallingford, CT
JP Motors - Woodbridge, CT

Please let me know specific experiences with any of the above and overall impressions.

Thanks guys,

Paul

Default Don't go to Branca's.

They couldnt even change my oil right; they left my drain plug loose and it took me half a quart before i figured out what the hell had happened. I brought it in initially because i was hearing some clunking and noticed the front upper control arm bushings were worn and the rubber cracked. Also, i had a creak coming from the rear, again assuming control arms - i've had them go before and i know what they sound like - i basically just wanted them to confirm my suspicions and replace them.

After 'road testing' it and prodding around, charging me an hour for the diagnosis, they told me that they couldn't hear the clunking and determined that my suspension was fine, and that i only lacked some spring insulators or something which was causing the creaking. I figured the hell with it and let them put the 'insulators' on, i'm not a mechanic anyway and could be wrong. But... when i picked the car back up 'fixed', it still squeaked. Did they not realize this?

Needless to say i was pretty disappointed with their diagnosis. Took it to fairfield audi and they confirmed exactly what i suspected - bad front right uppers and rear lowers. They also asked me who did my last oil change, because oil was spilled all over the engine compartment.

I've heard some good things about the place, and i can only hope my experience there was somewhat of an anomoly, but i dont intend to bring it back there anytime soon.

[edit] I'm still looking for a southern CT indie to do the control arms - i only brought it to the dealership for the diagnosis - i'd be broke before they got the wheels off with their $112 an hour labor rate

Default Try these guys...

I live in Branford. Other shops are closer, but I trust these guys. They've done a whole mess of stuff on my TT - suspension, timing belt, brakes, random other things. They're a little more expensive than some other shops, but they know their stuff very well and their work is really good.

Fairfield County Motorsport
