Fender Rolling Help
I know LI-S4 used him and reviewed him recently. Anyone have contact info I can pass along? Any idea on pricing?
Thanks!
Do you mean that to do the 2 front fenders it would be 400.00?
My friend mentioned he thought something around 60.00 each...? Is their THAT much play in the price between guys?
Either way, I'll pass along the info and let him decide. Thanks for your help.
BoneStock and I were having suspension work done at roughly the same time...Can't remember if was going to the 550/650 rates in the T-Sports or to the Mo-sports..And I was doing the T-Sports.
Anyway, he was also adding the Sportec Mono 10's...and we both needed the fender roll and alignment. I convinced him to get it done while he was at RPM...cost $50 a corner or the like.
They use the rolling machine. Take at look at the job they did. They cut out a portion of the fender liner, and folded the lip up with such prejudice that the edge of the fender ended up rippled and the paint cracked on the fold. Add to this that the rolling tool can't contact the entire fender on the S4 because it hits the caliper so the rest will have to be done by hand, or left undone.
I have harbored the guilt of convincing him to get it done. Truth is he might have done it anyway, but I did my share of encouraging him.
I decided to use Nelson after seeing the results of RPM's work. This is not a bash on RPM. They are a reputable shop and five minutes in their bays and you know they know their stuff...M3's, 993's Esprit's, Diablo...sick stuff all over the place.
Nelson came down from CT with a hammer, screwdriver and hockey puck and worked the fenders for two hours. He left the fender liner intact, and did the entire lip, all the way around. When he was done he went over the lip with the tools used for paintless dent repair and then polished and waxed it.
I don't regret a penny of it. I do get a slight buzz on the fender liner in a real aggressive turn, but it is a once in a long while thing that isn't worth bothering with.
Cut fender liner, 3/4 around the fender, cracked paint and rippled lip = $90 versus Complete job, no cracks, no ripples and full fender liner = $400 + a cup of coffee.

But, my buddy is always out for the lowest price he can get, so I'm sure he'll just settle on someone cheaper and less good.
some folks gotta learn the hard way.
