I must be a 48 year old fart... The Evo and 180 miles..

My son has become a traitor to VAG... it was bound to happen. I picked up his 2003 mint EVO with 26K miles last night in Dover, DE. He still is on a revoked license until January, but saw the opportunity and used everything he made on the R32 and GTI to work this deal.
My review...
My Aching Back!! While the Recaro seats are incredibly supportive and they hold you in very well, the NON ADJUSTABLE seat angle was hell. It was over 180 miles of back spasm torture.
It didn't matter that the EVO handles like it is on rails. Some cars can stop on a dime, this one can not only stop on the edge of the dime but is can steer a course around it and trace the edge of it without moving the dime. But parking is always a two move project as the turning radius is BIGGER than the allroad. But no wheel scrubbing at the locks.
The fact that you can squirt the throttle at 80 and in a blink you are doing 100+ is totally irrelevant when you have to contend with an exhaust so loud you can't here the radio. (Upgraded, no cat in the system, but a high flow cat was provided and is in the trunk.)
The incredible power and ease of handling can't possibly out weigh the giant wing in the rear that blocks your line of site in the mirror. But I suppose when you are driving something like this "What's behind me is unimportant..."
I love my allroad, it may not handle as well, nor have as much power, but it is a joy to drive and the seats are perfect for me.
My son hasn't even driven this EVO yet. He will need 24/7 restraint with this pocket rocket.
I will say the car is in immaculate condition. Borla Exhaust Manifold, Dynochip tuned ECU, competiton Cams, CAI, a Turbo Timer with logging functions and remote start. Alpine radio with Sirus and sub woofer in the trunk.
I can see this on the AutoX, but not a day to day driver, but then again, I'm 48, not 19.

Wait, you let your kid, who already has a revoked license, get an EVO??
I hope he gets you a "world's greatest dad" hat, t-shirt, and coffe mug for christmas...lol. When I was younger, my parents kept this rusty 10-speed bike right in the front of the garage to always remind that if I ****ed up, that would be my transportation until I could afford my own. The bike didn't even have a chain..lol

I'm not paying for it...
this is his $$. The rev. license is for combined offenses that happend while on his Jr. License in 2003. Some of which happend in a 2.0 Jetta with an automatic tranny.
How would like to buy your own EVO and know you could not drive it for 6 months if you got anothe speeding ticket? That is what he knows can happen and as the parent, I have nothing to do with the penalty.

you know the real reason?
asians drift around tight corners while europeans prefer to turnthe wheel and have the car sling itself around without breaking traction...
damn ricers. :P

A car like that wasn't made to do the speed limit...
You know it, I know it, and he knows it. If he's that close to the edge...I can't understand why he would want to be anywhere near this car. It's nothing but trouble, and not having a license is a good bit worse than having a license and driving a POS Civic.
