Default Lease questions NYC vs NJ

I am moving back to the area after a year working upstate NY.

I will be working in Livingston NJ.

I currently have a apartment that I rent in Union Square NYC.

I think I will finally be earning enough money to lease a new A4. Want to keep the payments to $400 a month.

My question is this, do I lease in NJ or in NYC and which dealers would you recommend ?

I guess the commute from the city to Livingston NJ would be no fun so I intend to check out NJ and rent a place there, especially if it's beneficial tax wise ?

Anyone recommend a decent place to live near Livingston NJ with easy access to NYC ?

Cheers

D

Default Summit, West Orange, Roseland, East Hanover, Florham Park, even...

Parsippany, Denville, are all nice areas that are within a 20 minute drive of Livingston. Where are you going to be working?

Default hold off on the car till u switch to nj...

its only a point and change difference in tax but its still $$$. plus u need to have prooof of residency in nj for the lease, unless u can switch ur DL to the office address which is gray area....

if ur working for any kind of mid-large corp forgetaboutit.... and wait till u live in nj to start the lease.

Wow thanks for the responses guys. Truth is I've been lurking here for a while :-)

I think I will wait until I've rented a place in NJ and then lease in NJ.

I will check out Summit. I drove out to the area last weekend. Looked at South Orange.

I only want a studio, but something where I can park the A4 safe and off road :-) and somewhere I can take the train into/back from the city if I wanna partay :-)

Then look at Summit because they have a train station. Where in Livingston are you working?
